Hi all! First I wish to thank British Learning for giving me this opportunity. Let me start with a super quick introduction about myself. I’m Gayathri Krishnamoorthy was born on 1989 in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India. My father is a business man and my mother is home maker and I’m the second child of an elder sister and a younger brother. I have been married since 2014 and have one son with my husband. Graduate in M.sc Computer Science in 2012 started by Asst. System Engineer job in one of the reputed company and worked about two years till 2014. As I want to change my career to social worker I have started my teaching career since 2015.
In 2015, I started my first teaching career in Euro kids preschool in Chennai. Initially I started my teaching career with no experience then with much more internal training I got an opportunity to learn about teaching techniques, methods and so on. In 2016, I moved to Velammal Vidhyashram in Chennai, here I worked as senior kindergarten teacher for two years here I got an opportunity to learn and teach Jolly Phonics in Internal training which helped me to develop young learners vocabulary. To upgrade my professional, I did Advance Montessori certification in Maria Montessori in 2018, Post Graduation Diploma in Child Counseling and Diploma in Child Psychology at British Learning in 2021. Now I’m currently doing PGCTL in Suraasa. In 2022, I moved to United Kingdom England with my family.
My teaching style is primarily centered on class engagement. I adapted my teaching style in order to cater for young learners and make the material as interesting as possible. I like to use cooperative learning, Hand-on approach, The Play method, Phonetics. I believe this is something which increases student’s interest significantly, and from my experience, leads to a better learning experience overall. In managing behavior of students I would set boundaries from the get-go these would involve three things: RESPECT, RESPONSE and the RIGHT approach to learning. RESPECT is the respect of each other and me, the teacher. RESPONSE is the process in which we all abide by in the classroom when either asking questions or answering questions. The RIGHT approach to learning is getting the students to understand the benefits of learning and how this impacts on their future.
The pressures of teaching need to be managed effectively, I believe effective planning of both time and lessons. Planning helps significantly reduce stress as a teacher. Secondly, I believe in maintaining a positive and happy mindset.
I look after myself outside of work. I often go walking and carry out physical exercise to clear my head and this also helps to reduce stress too.
If I should characterize myself with three words only, I would pick enthusiasm, drive, and commitment. And that’s true about my personal life and teaching. I am committed to my roles of wife, mother, and teacher, and try my 100% in every interaction with fellow human beings.
Happy Teaching!!!
